A lot of us were handed a quiet ultimatum about the Bible somewhere along the way. Either take every word at face value and stop asking questions, or hold it at arm’s length and never really trust it. Methodists have always refused that choice. The second message in our series The People Called looks at how we actually read Scripture: with full trust and an open mind, leaning on the wisdom of the whole church, our God-given reason, and the way grace proves real in our own lives. You can take the Bible completely seriously and still think hard about it. In fact, that is exactly how the deepest faith catches fire.
