Sermons from St. Paul UMC

“Strangely Warmed”

Luke 24:13-35 (NRSVue)

In 1738, a frustrated and exhausted minister named John Wesley walked into a meeting he didn’t even want to attend, and his life, and eventually a worldwide movement, caught fire. The opening message in our series The People Called sermons goes back to where Methodism began: a heart strangely warmed, a faith that refuses to choose between head and heart, and a movement that has always existed for one reason. Most of us inherited this faith without ever hearing its story or being told what it is actually for. This message starts there, with who we are, where we came from, and what we have been handed to carry.
