Son of God

Matthew 16:13-20 (NRSVue)

Most of us settled on an answer about Jesus a long time ago and never went back to look at it again. He seems to have known we would do that. So he took his twelve closest friends on a long walk north, out of familiar country, to a town built around a shrine to another god, and there he asked them the only question that has ever really mattered. He did not ask what they had been taught. He asked what they would say. Whatever answer you have been carrying, it is worth taking back out and looking at.
